What a weekend! Herbert making history, Stig doing amazing performances in the pool. It’s a weekend to remember for sure! The place where Stig set his world record this weekend was during the Aarhus Triple Challenge 2007 in Aarhus, Denmark. 22 freedivers from 8 countries, of course the majority of the athletes from Denmark. This competition is actually not one competition but consists of three separate competitions. This way you’ve got more changes for a good ranking result.

Besides the amazing results of Stig there were for sure some other interesting performances with the men. Peter Pedersen did a 213 meter dynamic with fins. From the 14 static competitors 9 of them did 5 minutes or more, 5 did 6 minutes or more and Stig did a very good 8:40 minutes to win the static comp, which is a new Danish record. 13 male competitors for dynamic with fins and 8 doing 150 meters or more, with Stig doing the world record 225 meter dive. That’s what I call a strong field! 9 people doing dynamic without fins and Stig again winning it by doing a 155 meters without any preparation! That makes the results for the men complete.

The woman also did an excellent job. Elisabeth Kristoffersen won the static comp with a time of 5:33 min. Dynamic with fins was won by Emina Enedahl-Mekki with a distance of 149 meter, which is a new Swedish record. She also won the dynamic without fins comp by doing a 100 meters.

All in all a great competition! I wonder what kind of air these Scandinavian people are taking. Their performance always look very high level and solid. I guess they’re doing something right. Complete result list can be found here or click on the picture on the left.
