Back in Action: Tandem No-Limits
June 5, 2009 in Event by Jorg Jansen
It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything serious about this discipline. Tandem freediving was invented by Pipin Ferreras and his organisation the IAFD, that doesn’t exist anymore. The last record is already back from 2001 when Benjamin Franz and Pipin did a no-limits tandem dive to 122 meters, the current constant weight world record by Martin Stepanek. Wow, how far have ‘we’ come.
Anyway, Patrick Musimu has announced he’s going to break the current ‘world record’ together with Karol Meyer somewhere in September 2009. There is no organisation acknowledging this discipline, so I guess it will probably be a ‘media world record’. I wonder what depth they will be making. If something new comes up about this, I’ll let you know!

I received the press release below about the US National Freediving Championships that will take place in Hawaii from April 22-25. Looks like it’s going to be an interesting competition, so if you’re in the neighborhood, go for it! US National Freediving Championship set for April 22 through 25, 2010 at Freedive Paradise event.
AIDA International has a new website and a new web address. It is not yet made public on the old website. Probably because it’s still work in progress. But it is already looking to good for not mentioning it here.

I really think they're going to do this to practice, to learn and to overcome their own limits, not for exhibition or to appear on the media… They're both serious and commited divers.
