Croatian Dynamic Championship 2009

The competition was organized in town of Split, and it was under CMAS rules. We had some nice results, in mean’s part of competition and like usual even bather in female division. The winners was Lidija Lijic with 175,18m and me with 222,48m.

Last week there was a CMAS freediving competition going on in Split, Croatia. It was the Croatian Dynamic Championships 2009 and it had some strong results.
The winner with the woman was Lidija Lijic who did a 175,18 meter dynamic with fins dive.
With the men Goran Colak was the winner, he did a 222,48 meter dive. He almost broke the 223,65 meter CMAS dynamic world record by Fred Sessa.

Jorg, you have plenty of data. Could you do some chart comparing the national championships in different countries? Comparing the best, and the average results? I am always rather surprised when seeing results from smaller countries, where the level often looks much higher than for example in France. And I do not speak only about the top divers, but about the overall level too. I remember seeing the result table not a long time ago from Denmark, Finland, or Norway (don’t remember exactly), where there was only a single DYN performance below 100m and quite strong top results in all disciplines. In France, where there are possibly as much as 2000 freedivers organized in clubs, hence a really huge base, not only the best performances are often inferior to those at many nations with just a handful of freedivers, but also the level of the bottom half of the result list is far beyond.
Sometimes, I speak about the paradox on French forums, and my theory is that the main reason are improper training methods. The French, as in many other areas of life, are completely isolated. To great part it is because their inability to communicate in other languages than French, hence not knowing anything about recent training methods, and the other reason is probably their pride – the nation of Cousteau and Mayol won’t accept learning something from such dwarfs and greenhorns like Danish, Finnish, New Zealanders, Czechs, or Austrians!
Yes, that would be very interesting indeed! so the best and the average result for the best 10? or 20? I also noticed the big differences. There seem to be some super-freediving countries out there with little number of freedivers but very high performances.
And about your comment about the French, I totally agree! Too bad, because some of them have all the facilities there, like the Nice team, but how many of them are over 80 meter divers?
