June 18, 2009 in Competition, National Record by Jorg Jansen
Last weekend was time for the Aarhus Triple Challenge freediving competition in Aarhus, Denmark. Normally this competition consists of doing 2 competitions of 3 disciplines in 2 days. But at the last minute one day was canceled. Nevertheless there were some big performances going on.
With 14 competitors from 5 countries it was a good practice competition for the world championships that will be organized by the same people. Apperantly they learned a lot from what was going good and especially what was going bad.
Best men in static was Jesper Stechmann from Denmark with a time of 7:15. Best woman was Sofia Tapani (Sweden) with a 4:53 static
The winner with the men for dynamic without fins was Lars Strandridder (Denmark) with a distance of 157 meter. Sofia Tapani was again the best woman with an excellent 122 meters, which is a new Swedish national record. Ilka Michaelis broke the German national record with a distance of 115 meters, breaking the fresh 113 meters from Anna von Boetticher from May 4.
Dynamic with fins for the men was won by Jesper Stechmann with a 200 meter dive. Rune Hallum, who is just 18 years old, did a 196 meter dive. Barbara Jeschke (Germany) did a 131 meter dive for the woman.
