Crystal Clear Water Competition

July 8, 2009 in Calendar, Competition, National News by Jorg Jansen

Between 27th and 31st of July, 2009 crystal clear waters of Lake Hancza will be a place for “Crystal Clear Water Competition”.

This will be the first competition in polish lakes that’s going to be included in the official AIDA ranking.
The event will feature 3 major Freediving disciplines:
Constant weight
Free immersion
Unassisted
The competition will take five days with a break after the second day (total of 4 diving days). Each competition day the competitor will have the option to choose the discipline they dive. The diver that’s going to collect the deepest tag will be a winner of each discipline. Results will be collected per discipline and will not be summarized. Due to the limits of the lake, maximum depth is set to 100 m.
There will be a counter weight system responsible for the safety of freedivers.

For anybody that lives in or near Poland, there is good news if they want to attend a depth competition in that region. I received the announcement below, and I must say that already based on the competition name I want to go. Pretty nice competition website by the way!

Calendar Updated For The Next Half Year

July 14, 2007 in Calendar by Jorg Jansen

google_calendar.gifThe official AIDA calendar was once again updated with some competitions, so I added them to the Shark Freediving Calendar. By now most of you know what the advantages of this calendar are. But if you have forgotten, here is once again the explanation that I also put down at the bottom of the Calendar page.

What’s this about?
Another calendar! Why don’t just watch directly the AIDA Calendar? Well, because it’s a very simple static page with no options to sort, export or view it in your regular calendar. With our Shark-Freediving.com calendar you can! The calendar is made with the fantastic Google Calendar application and uses the standard for all online calendars, iCal. This means you can use a xml or iCal feed in your own calendar to watch all freediving related events.

If you don’t have a calendar or you still use some software witch doesn’t have the option to use iCal calendars then you can also register yourself with Google Calendar and use their free version. Just click the ’subscribe to calendar’ link below the actual calendar.

What events are in the calendar?
In this calendar you find everything you can also find on the AIDA website on the calendar page, but this time it’s in a real calendar format. So basically you’ll find all the official AIDA competitions and announced record attempts. We’re are also planning to put the non competitive but still worldwide interesting events in here. If you miss something, just send us an email.

The Public Calendar Feeds: iCal xml

Already many people make use of this calendar, around 250 people have added it to their own calendar or are viewing it online here each day! So, if you have any freediving event, (national) record attempt, competition, meet & greet, I don’t know what else, and you want to put it in this calendar, just send me the info, or a press release about the event with the date mentioned, and I’ll put it in the Calendar.

Visit the Calendar through this link.

Calendar Update & Google Freediving

March 24, 2007 in Calendar, Project by Jorg Jansen

google_calendar.gifShort note about some projects. The calendar is fully updated again! Take a look here or look more below in the sidebar for a list of upcoming freediving events. I’m looking into some ways into increasing usability and viewing possibilities, but I’ll get back on that later.

From now on there is also a Google Freediving project page where I combine my freediving and web technology interests. You can take a look here or click in the sidebar on the link under projects. On the page you find the latest freediving news, blog, books and video’s. Pretty convenient I would say… Of course the appropriate and worth mentioning results will still be posted on this blog.

I’m working on some other stuff, but that will be posted later.

Big Freediving Calendar Update

February 4, 2007 in Calendar by Jorg Jansen

google_calendar.gifWow, it’s been a while since I updated the freediving calendar for the last time. It just took me almost two hours to fill it up correctly again. Not many competitions yet in 2007, but it’s still early in the year and most competition are announced by AIDA 2-3 months beforehand. Don’t forget you can go this site to watch the calendar and read further instructions about how to use it: shark-freediving.com/calendar/
