Competition Overview 2009

June 20, 2009 in Database by Jorg Jansen

dataThis morning I was working in my database of all kinds of freediving information. It’s getting bigger and bigger too the point that I know all the shoe-sizes of people who were competing between July 2000 en august 2002 with bifins. Without any jokes, I think that I’ve gathered some pretty interesting information over the years and it’s a shame to keep this information locked in one place.

So in the coming weeks I will try to open my database more and more with all kinds of information, so that you can do all kind of interesting stuff with it. For example see which country is best in doing dynamic with fins in 25 meter pools. Or compare different athletes from different countries against each other and see remarkable countries with only a few freedivers getting so much better results then countries with many many freedivers competing.

The first table I’m going to open for you is my general list of competitions. The sheet of 2009 is not 100% complete, but every competition with a ‘x’ in the first line is already added the my results database. This way I can show a current ranking over 2009. I know that there are some other systems to keep track of the ranking, but as I’ve got over 13.000 performances already logged in my own list, I just keep using mine.

As all data is public, you can do with it whatever you want! So have fun data-mining, and I’ll be releasing more and more data in the near future. If you’re looking for some specific data, or you would like to know something, let me know and I’ll try to find it for you.
