Azores Freediving Training Camp 2009

June 12, 2009 in Education, Event by Jorg Jansen

Fellow freediver and friend Francisco Gautier send me the following info about his training camp. If you can, you should attend! It’s always a perfect organization with Francisco.

In 2008 on the island of Menorca in the Balerics, Oceancolors sucessfully organised the first Menorca freedive training camp. Last years event gave us six weeks of training, where atheletes came from eight different countries and went on to set ten national records.
This year from the 1st to the 30th August 2009, by popular demand, Oceancolors will host a second training camp. It will be in the Azores, on the island of Faial which is set in this beautiful archipeligo in the middle of the Atlantic.
The organisation will be the same principal as last year. The camp will restrict its numbers to only ten atheletes per day for optimum safety and use of the facilities. The camp will cater from elite freedivers to intermediate levels.
This camp will enable top athletes who want to set a national record or prepare for the individual AIDA world championships in the Bahamas in November. Intermediate freedivers will dive with them, learn their tricks and improve their deep diving.

Apnea Academy Instructor Course 2008

March 13, 2007 in Champion Freediver, Education by Jorg Jansen

Umberto_Apnea_Academy.jpgApnea Academy will organize another Instructor Course in English in 2008. It seems that they will be doing more or less the same as what they did in 2006. The course will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt and will probably be planned around May for 7 long and heavy days. How heavy? This heavy, and here a full schedule of the week. So, if you want to learn everything there is to learn about freediving, the grandmaster himself, Umberto Pelizzari, will be your guide in becoming an excellent instructor. Make sure you can easily hold your breath for 4 minutes, do a dynamic of 75 meters and a constant weight dive of 30 meters, plus all the other prerequisites. I heard from 4 Dutch freedivers who went there it was the most excellent freediving week ever, where they learned so many new things. So if you’re interested…
