During rest day Sebastian Naslund organized a small national record competition, where all freedivers who attended the world championships in the Bahamas could do an extra dive to try and break the national record in their chosen discipline. It was a great success.
The following 9 national records were broken:
- Junko Kitahama Japan cnf 50
- Antero Jokki Finland cnf 66
- Mads Isberg denmark fim 67
- klara Hansson sweden fim 70
- Misuzu Hirai Japan cwt 71
- Kerian Hibbs New Zealand cnf 72
- Sebastian Naslund sweden fim 83
- Per Westin sweden cwt 86
- Jure Daic Slovenia NLT 101
- Ryuzo Shinomyia Japan CWT 107
Amazing list! Especially for Ryuzo, who failed during the series, but made up for it with a great 107 constant weight dive. And lets not forget Sebastian Naslund, who besides doing a lot of work as organizer, found the time do do a national free immersion record of 83 meters. Great stuff going on over there!

During the Evolution II cup in Italy, Italian freediver Gaspare Battaglia set a new national record in the discipline static (under CMAS rules). With a 7:46 minutes breath hold it was more then enough to break his own previous record which stood at 7:23 minutes.
Other news coming from this much hyped competition is minimal. Goran Colak attempted to break the dynamic with fins world record, but yet again stranded at 225 meters, which is still a major distance but not enough to break the current 250 meter record.
There was a lot of live streaming going on, together with some commentators, which was great. But the basic thing missing were the result lists, which I still can’t find.

Last Saturday it was time for the 12th version of the Long Night of Apnea which takes place every year in Berlin, Germany. There were 17 freedivers from 7 countries, 3 women and 14 men, which made for enough people to have a fun competition.
Winner with the women was Christina Kummel from Denmark with 158.8 points. She did a 5:07 static, 100 meter dynamic without fins and a total time of 19:04 minutes in the famous 16×50 dynamic event.
The winner with the men was Robert Cetler from Poland with 249,8 points which was made up from a 7:01 static, 180 meter dynamic and a 13:13 min 16×50. Strong performance.
Daan Verhoeven from the Netherlands set a new national record in the dynamic with fins discipline with his 169 meter dive. See the video below.
